Fall Internships: An 8-Week Journey into the Art of Awesomeness

David Ogilvy. Leo Burnett. Bill Bernbach. These are just a few of the ad industry legends who never interned at Masterminds. (Although we once had an intern named Rusty Bogusky). Regardless, they all had to start somewhere, just like you. So why not start at the beach? It’s fall. The crowds have split. The water’s still warm. The Pokemon are easier to catch. It’s the perfect time to kickoff your advertising career by interning at Masterminds, the award-winning full service ad agency down by the Jersey Shore.
We aren’t looking for obnoxious sexy 20-somethings with orange glowing skin and spiked up hair who want their MTV. Well, maybe we are. But we are also looking for a few bright young go-getters for our fantastic Fall 2011 internship. Three (3) selected applicants – an account management intern, social media/copywriting intern and a design/studio intern – will have the opportunity to not only immerse themselves in their own specialty, but they will also have a chance to collaborate with other departments and maybe have some ice cream.
This full time, eight-week opportunity of awesomeness kicks off on Monday, September 12th and comes to a thunderous conclusion on Friday, November 4th. (Don’t forget to ask us about the free Skittles.) Along your 8-week advertising odyssey, you’ll pick up a solid ad agency foundation that will help you grow your advertising career. You may also get to judge our famous Halloween costume contest where we all dress up like our favorite characters from iCarly. Our goal is to have you leave Masterminds with real world work and some valuable experience. You will be trained and given access to all of the same tools, software and processes we use at the agency. You can also use the bathroom – whenever you want!
Each Masterminds intern will be given an agency mentor in their area of specialty and will work on real day-to-day client work, observe meetings, and handle daily tasks and assignments within their departments – HELL YEAH, BRING IT! In addition, interns will also work together as a collaborative team on an assigned, real-world project specifically developed for them by a Creative Director and Account Director. This project will be worked on throughout the eight weeks and will be presented to agency staff (and possibly a client) upon completion. The presentation will be in 3D.
Although this is an unpaid internship, there is a weekly stipend of $75, PLUS everyone gets their own go-kart and puppy. OK, there’s no go-kart or puppy, but there are many other things you can take full advantage of; like the experience, new contacts, being close to the beach, free coffee, free booze (keep the booze thing on the DL), Dunkin’ Donuts every Friday, dinner on the nights we work late (do you like butter chicken?) and the fact that you can wear whatever you want, as long as it’s hot pink.
Resumes should be received by 5:00pm sharp on Wednesday, September 6th. Interviews will start immediately. So, the earlier the better.
